My journey into coffee.
Posted on
My journey into coffee started circa 2011. I was in the office in London one day making a cup of tea, and a guy next to me had this strange syringe thing and a few seconds later it produced a cup of coffee. I was interested straight away. He bought some extra beans in the next day and made me a cup. It was literally the best cup of coffee I had ever had.
Fast forward a few months and I was working in Bath (you might guess where this is going) a few days a week and I started popping out of the office after lunch and getting a coffee. This shop happened to be Colonna & Smalls. I started to get to know Maxwell and realised just how much he knew about coffee and how special the shop is.
My love of coffee, both brewed and espresso, had arrived. Since then I have always had some beans in the cupboard, next to an Aeropress, a V60, and various other coffee makers. I think many others will agree that there's a simple calmness to the ritual of making coffee by hand in the morning. Weighing the beans, using a hand grinder and feeling the beans grinding on every turn of the handle. Smelling the aromas as the coffee blooms and then tasting the end result.
Feel The Grind is the result of this journey, a place to buy the best equipment for making coffee by hand.
